Raider-face

Daylight savings time has ended. Did you remember to set your clocks back?

Schools are closed Monday, November 3 and Tuesday, November 4. When students return to school, Wednesday, November 5, they will follow a Day Two schedule.

Chilly fall temperatures have arrived. Remind your child to “dress for the weather” on their Brain Break days as we will still be going outside.

This week your child will take Virginia Growth Assessments. These statewide tests must be taken at school and are given in the fall and winter in grades 6-8 Reading and Mathematics. The Virginia Growth Assessments are shorter computer adaptive tests (CAT) than Standards of Learning (SOL) tests. Click HERE for more information.

Winter sports tryouts will begin Thursday, November 6 for boys’ basketball and wrestling.  Students must have an updated athletic physical on file or turn one in to the coach on the first day of tryouts. Physical forms can be found on gomoody.com under “Athletics.” Grades will be checked. If students are not meeting the standards set in the Moody athletic handbook, they will not be permitted to try out. Grades are a very important part of athletics and will be checked regularly during the season.

The gifted referral window will be open from Monday, October 27, through Monday, November 10, at 4PM. During this time, students may be referred to the gifted identification process by an educator, parent/guardian, community member, peer, or self. By submitting a referral, you are requesting your student be evaluated to determine eligibility for gifted services. To begin a referral, contact your Gifted Identification Coordinator with your student’s name, grade, and area of referral (Math, Language, Both) via email to communicate your referral.  Gifted referrals will not be accepted after 4PM on Monday, November 10. Contact the Gifted Identification Coordinators at Moody, Brian Coffey (bhcoffey@henrico.k12.va.us and Jodi Denny (jsdenny1@henrico.k12.va.us) with questions.
