|To check out Season 2 of Henrico Edflix:
· Go to HCPS’ Virtual Learning website, where you’ll see the Henrico Edflix logo. Click “View Episodes.”
· Under “Who’s watching Edflix?” select the student grade level, which will tell you more about the activities involved in each season.
· For students in kindergarten through fifth grade, you’ll see “Season 2: Episode 1 (April 14-24),” which is made up of two parts: “Performance tasks” and “choice boards.” Performance tasks are in-depth projects for your students. Each choice board has columns for subjects such as language arts and math; K-5 students choose at least one activity from each column on the choice board to complete each week.
· For students in grades 6-12, activities and episode “time slots” are different, because these students are using Schoology on HCPS-issued laptops, and often have different course objectives than elementary students.
· Pre-K students have unique needs, and their seasons reflect that.
· There’s also a “Families” viewer option, with links and resources to bring you together as you learn.
· Students with disabilities will benefit from accessible virtual lessons from their exceptional education teachers. Students with disabilities who are moving forward with learning in high school credit courses will continue to receive support from their special education teachers and case managers.
Through Henrico Edflix, we want to offer engaging and enriching ways for your student to learn (and maybe “binge-learn”) during a challenging time. These lessons reinforce the central pillars of the Henrico Learner Profile just like lessons taught inside the walls of your student’s school. While the format is different, we will continue to strive for new ways to connect with your students, and give your family the flexibility you need.
What if you need help with Henrico Edflix? Of course, whether our buildings are open or closed, our staff and faculty are here to help. If you have questions, please start with your child’s teacher or school counselor. As for what else is part of HCPS’s on-demand learning plan? Check out this page for additional details, and a timeline.
Thank you for your willingness to adapt and try new things during this time, to keep your students engaged with learning. While it’s not easy, together we are working with creativity to make sure Henrico students have the support they need to succeed.

|Good evening Raider families,
Prior to spring break I sent a message regarding recovery plans that teachers developed for students who were interested in improving their MP3 grades. A Google form was linked to the message. If you have not completed the form letting us know of your intentions, please do so ASAP. Students and parents, this information will provide the teachers a clear picture of who will be participating in the Recovery Plan and who chooses to “opt out.” A completed form is needed for each class. If you have not completed the form letting us know of your intentions, please do so ASAP. All assignments are due no later than April 24 by 4PM.
For students who opt out of the recovery plan, teachers are posting remediation and enrichment activities for students to continue their learning. I highly encourage all students to complete the virtual lessons that are being provided through Schoology.
Beginning May 5, all students enrolled in a high school credit course will be expected to complete the new learning opportunities posted in Schoology. In order to receive the high school verified credit, this work must be completed. Teachers will be keeping a record of completed assignments.
If you have any questions, please email me at email@example.com

|Good evening Raider families. This is Principal Doss calling with your Sunday message…on a Friday!
As you are aware, Henrico County Public Schools will be closed for students for two full weeks starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27. Starting Tuesday, the school building will be closed. We will continue to provide updates specific to Moody Middle School as we move forward with developing plans on Monday to prepare for our “virtual learning” experiences (digital and non-digital). What does virtual learning look like? Click on the link attached to this message. http://blogs.henrico.k12.va.us/hlp/virtual-learning/ Scroll to the bottom of the page to Secondary Resources. Be sure to review the “STUDENTS” and “FAMILIES” links.
There are a few events that have been canceled as a result of COVID-19: PTSA Spirit Night at MOD Pizza, PTSA Spring Dance.
Continue to monitor gomoody.com for updates regarding tryouts for spring sports.
If your child has medication in the clinic that they need over the next two weeks, please make sure to make arrangements to pick up the medication by 1:00 PM on Monday, March 16.
Many HCPS students depend on school meals as a crucial part of daily nutrition. Henrico Schools is working on plans to address those needs. Information can be found as it becomes available at Henrico Schools’ coronavirus webpage, henricoschools.us/covid19/.
Does HCPS keep you informed? How well do we encourage creativity? Does your family feel safe and welcome at school? We want to know what you think! By sharing your perspectives and experiences, you can help our school, and the entire school division, improve and make important decisions for the future. After completing the survey, you can choose to be entered in a drawing for a Dell Chromebook, one of five $50 gas cards (one per magisterial district), or Chick-fil-A coupons for a free chicken sandwich. You can also help win breakfast or lunch for staff at Moody! The school in each magisterial district with the highest parent/guardian response rate will win. The survey window is open now through April 3. Please visit the link attached to this message to complete the survey. https://henricoschools.us/surveys/
If you have any questions over the next two weeks, I will serve as your point of contact. Please do not hesitate contacting me firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your continued support as we work through this together.
A tentative start date has been set for spring sports for March 30th. As we receive further information, we will continue to provide updates.
Starting Monday, March 16, Henrico County Public Schools will be closed for students for two full weeks of school (through Friday, March 27). We will continue to assess the situation, and decide later if we need to extend this period of closure.
We realize this creates many questions about how students will continue their learning. We have a thorough plan in place, and detailed information about student learning will be communicated in a separate message.
Our teachers and staff will use Monday, March 16, to continue their preparations. “Virtual learning” experiences (digital and non-digital) will be available to students of all grade levels starting on Tuesday, March 17.
During this unprecedented experience, we will continue to do everything possible to ensure the health and safety of our community. The HCPS Facilities and Pupil Transportation departments will conduct additional cleaning of school buildings and buses, and continue to assess the best cleaning practices.
Additionally, for many of our students, the meals provided at our schools are a crucial part of their daily nutrition. Additional plans are being made to address this vital need across the Henrico Community.
Please know that this is not a decision that we make lightly. We realize that any change to educational schedules is disruptive and inconvenient. However, our priority must always be the health and safety of our students, staff members and community.
Again, more details about student learning will be forthcoming in separate communications. Visit the “COVID-19” page on our website for full information from HCPS.
Congratulations to Moody’s Destination Imagination team!
The team, ‘It’s an inside joke!’ won 1st place at the regional championship, advancing to the state level championship on March 28. The team worked on the challenge ‘The Big Fix-Technical,’ where they had to build an innovation that, when operated, solved a problem in 3 different steps. Each step of the solution had to use a different STEM discipline. The team members are: Vihaan I.(6th), Vinita P. (6th), Samhith S. (6th), Viresh S. (7th), Aarav L. (7th), and Neel G. (7th). The team picture below also the props and costumes they built.
Moody’s very own Robotics team, FTC team #16968 Moody Raider Robotics, participated in the First Tech Challenge Richmond Qualifier on December 7th. This is the first time the rookie team has participated in a major competition of this kind. In November, the team participated in a scrimmage and walked away being named as The Best Rookie Team of the event!
The Raider Robotics team had a wonderful learning experience during the event and during their various planning, building, and brainstorming sessions! If you would like to know more about the Moody Raider Robotics FTC program, information about an upcoming interest meeting will be posted on the Moody Middle School PTSA Facebook page soon.
