Raiders Represent!

April 29, 2019

This past week Anushree S., Jillian T., Kayla L., and Ally L. all competed at Virginia History Day where fierce competitors from all over the state presented projects on every topic imaginable. All of the girls did a great job. Ally L. placed with her website entitled, “The New Deal: A Triumph or Tragedy in Finance?” and will be going to College Park, MD this June for the National History Day Competition!!!!

Here is the award-winning website:  http://41814808.nhd.weebly.com/

Four years ago, Moody Middle School was the first school from Henrico County to participate in the local history day competition. Since that first contest with eight sixth graders, we have grown, and this past year brought thirty to the district level, four to the state, and now for the first time ever, one to the Nationals!!!

Congrats Ally!

You should have received a “Save the Date” with additional information; if you have any questions, please contact the PTSA.

The month of May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. This is a great time to promote the benefits of physical activity. Moody students will complete their fitness testing in April and May. Encourage your Raider to strive to achieve the Moody Max Award – reaching the “Moody Max” in all five fitness tests.

I hope that all of you had a restful and relaxing spring break. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at school tomorrow.  Tomorrow we will be following a day one schedule.

The teachers and students at Moody Middle School continue to support Relay for Life and its mission to find a cure, support patients, and to give hope to all who are affected by cancer. Relay is on June 1st at Pocahontas Middle from 4-10 PM. More information will be coming soon at informational sessions at school, Schoology, and email.

Due to the June 11th now being a holiday, the 8th grade rising up ceremony has been changed to June 10th.

“Don’t wait until you’ve reached your goal to be proud of yourself. Be proud of every step you take toward reaching that goal.” Raiders, as we continue on the path toward SOL testing and the end of the year, stay focused and determined to reach your goals!
